The PLA resin is melted and pushed through precision dies to create a consistent filament diameter, usually 1.75mm for most consumer 3D printers. During this stage, manufacturers can add colour pigments, special effects, or additives to create different finishes and properties.
The filament is then cooled, measured, and wound onto spools ready for printing.
