About us.

We’re Beau & Carly — best friends, a couple, and two people who genuinely just love doing life together.

We met at Carly’s coffee trailer, Just Another Barista, and from the start we were pretty much inseparable. We’re the kind of people who can spend all day together, work together, come home together, start random projects together… and somehow still have more to talk about before bed.

We’re both constantly full of ideas. Like… constantly. Beau will walk into the room laughing saying “I’ve got an idea,” and Carly’s already halfway through planning it before he finishes explaining. Most nights end with us sitting in the lab talking about new products, new goals, or some random idea we got way too excited about for absolutely no reason.

Beau is 33, a cable jointer by trade, always smiling, always laughing, and always building or fixing something. Carly is 30, co-owner of Just Another Barista, super organised, thrives in chaos, and somehow manages to keep our million thoughts, printers, and life together under control.

BC Layer Lab started because we wanted something that was ours. Something we could grow together, work towards together, and build a future around. We wanted a life full of love, laughter, creativity, happiness, and doing things we genuinely enjoy — and we wanted our business to feel the same way. Fun, personal, creative, and something we could share with other people.

What started as one printer and “just trying something fun” somehow turned into 4 printers running nonstop, filament taking over the house, and one small room becoming our favourite place to spend time together.

We honestly love every part of it. The designing, the printing, the late-night ideas, the failed prints we pretend didn’t happen, the packaging orders together, and seeing something we made end up making someone else smile.

We share our home with our dog and two cats who are very involved in the business despite having absolutely no qualifications.

At the end of the day, BC Layer Lab is really just us — two people who love creating things, love making each other laugh, and love building a life together doing something that makes us happy.
